Bridge Repair on Nicholson Road

Beginning Thursday, April 29th, Nicholson Road (1250th Avenue) will be closed to repair the bridge over Kickapoo Creek. The bridge is located 2 miles north of Lincoln. Construction is expected to take several months to complete, and the road will be closed to traffic during that time.

The project involves the repair of the concrete bridge deck and a new concrete overlay. The project was awarded to Sangamo Construction located in Springfield, Illinois. The cost of the project is approximately $513,650 which includes $368,344 of federal stimulus funding.

The bridge was built in 1971 and is need of some repairs to keep it in good condition. New steel bearings will be installed under the bridge. The concrete deck will be repaired and overlaid.

The Logan County Highway Department will be supervising the construction. The project should be completed by mid-summer. Cooperation and patience is always appreciated during the construction season as we continue to improve the safety of our roads and bridges.

Culvert Replacement on County Highway 10

Beginning in July, County Highway 10 will be closed between Elkhart and Mt. Pulaski to replace a concrete box culvert. The project is located 1 mile east of Elkhart. Construction is expected to take 2 months to complete. During this time, the roadway will be completely closed to traffic.

This box culvert needs to be replaced due to the deteriorated condition of the concrete. Logan County is using federal funds from the Highway Bridge Program to complete this construction.

The project was awarded to Otto Baum Company, Inc. located in Morton, Illinois. The construction cost is approximately $275,305.

The Logan County Highway Department will be supervising the construction.
