About

The Logan County Treasurer is an elected official who serves a four year term. The duties of the Logan County Treasurer include the receipt, management and disbursement of public funds. Any monies not needed immediately are to be invested at the highest rate of interest. All funds invested must be fully collateralized. The treasurer serves as the ex-officio county collector and as such is responsible for the collection, management and the distribution of property taxes, including real estate, mobile home and drainage tax. The County Treasurer is also responsible for maintaining all financial records for the annual audit.

IMPORTANT TAX DATES

The Second installment of Logan County real estate taxes were due September 1, 2011.

1.5% per month late penalty

Certified Letters mailed for unpaid taxes September 27, 2011. Add $10.00 for additional fees.

Final date for payment before publication is September 27, 2011 for outlying newspapers.
Final date for payment before publication is October 4, 2011 for Lincoln newspapers.

E-Pay online payment service & IVR (telephone payment service) last active day is October 21, 2011.

No personal checks after September 15, 2011. Collected funds or cash only.

Tax Buyer registration is ten business days prior to tax sale. Last day to register is October 21, 2011.

Tax Sale will be on October 26, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. Payments can be made up to time of sale..

Tax Responsibilities

County Supervisor of Assessments

1. Instructs the township assessors.
2. Prepares and maintains tax maps as well as up to date lists of property owner's names, addresses, and property record cards for all real estate in the county.
3. Serves as Clerk of the Board of Review.
4. Can revise assessment made by township assessor.
5. Grant exemptions.

County Clerk

1. Extend all tax rates according to the tax levy ordinances.
2. Extend the tax rate over the value of the property for each county taxing district.

County Treasurer

1. Prepare and mail all tax bills.
2. Collect all taxes.
3. Enter all errors of assessments and keep track of all tax appeals granted.
4. Disburse monies to the taxing bodies.
5. Invest all monies not immediately distributed. The interest earned will be distributed to the taxing bodies.
